Privacy policy

GPXport privacy policy

Applies to the GPXport Android app and to this website. Last updated 19 October 2026.

The short version: your GPX files are read on your device and are never uploaded. GPXport has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no route server. The only network connection the app makes is Google Play Billing, and it carries no route data.

1. Who this policy is from

GPXport is an independent Android application developed by an individual developer ("GPXport", "we"). For any privacy question, use the contact address at the end of this page.

2. GPX files you import

When you import a GPX file, the file is copied into the app's private cache on your device and parsed there. All simplification, sectioning and link building happens on your device. The track, its coordinates, its name and its metadata are not transmitted anywhere, because the app has nowhere to send them.

If you share a GPX file into GPXport from another app, that copy also lands in app private storage. The original file is left untouched.

3. Saved routes

Saving a route is part of the optional unlock. A saved route keeps the original file, byte for byte, in app private storage on your device. Opening, renaming and deleting saved routes are free. Saved routes are removed when you delete them, and all of them are removed when you uninstall the app. Android backup is disabled, so saved routes are not copied to Google's servers through the backup system.

4. The optional purchase

GPXport uses Google Play Billing for its one time unlock. When you buy or restore the unlock, Google Play processes the transaction. Google Play learns that a purchase was made and the app learns whether a valid purchase exists. No route data, no file contents and no location are shared with Google through this step.

Google's handling of your account and payment data is governed by Google's own privacy policy. GPXport never sees your payment details.

5. Permissions

GPXport asks for no location permission and no storage permission. It reaches a file only through the Android file picker or an explicit share, and the access lasts only while you are working with that file. The app declares no internet permission of its own; the Play Billing library is the only component that communicates over the network.

6. What is not collected

  • No account, no email address, no profile.
  • No analytics, crash reports or usage telemetry.
  • No advertising identifiers and no ad network.
  • No location data.
  • No route data, and no file contents of any kind.

7. This website

This is a static site. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and has no backend. Fonts are requested from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google to fetch them; if that connection fails, the site falls back to the fonts already installed on your device.

8. Retention and deletion

Imported and saved routes stay on your device until you delete them in the app or uninstall GPXport. Because nothing is uploaded, there is nothing for us to delete on a server. The free conversion allowance is stored locally on your device and is removed when the app is uninstalled or its data is cleared.

9. Children

GPXport is a general purpose navigation utility and is not directed at children. It collects no personal data from anyone, including children.

10. Changes to this policy

If the app's data handling changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.

11. Contact

Questions about this policy or about GPXport's data handling are welcome at [email protected].
